Welcome to my ‘Climagination’ Substack! I’m writing this in service to you as a reader focusing on how to remove excess greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere - and open to hearing a viewpoint on new solutions. It has been incredible to see the wide array of novel techniques now available to that end; as the industry matures I believe a new wave of innovation is on the horizon: innovations in industry structure and business models.
My article of faith is that new ways of managing businesses in carbon dioxide removal (CDR) will arise in the future, as technologies advance in parallel. The players who are able to evolve their organizations will be the future winners across all aspects of the industrial landscape of removing excess greenhouse gas from our atmosphere.
What to expect here? I’ll write about new types of carbon market customers, channels, fundraising strategies and more – with a healthy dose of observations about workforce and career development, as well as policy insights. What I want to do in this space is to share some of my ideas with you as a reader, challenging assumptions about greenhouse gas removal business models, asking ‘how can we do better’?
On a closing note, since entering the greenhouse gas removal industry in 2019 I have had the great privilege to observe and contribute in some small way to potentially a worldchanging industry in its infancy. And that experience has convinced me that we have it within ourselves to reverse climate change…sooner than anyone thinks possible: the sky is not the limit - it is the opportunity.

I love this, Jason! Thinking about what you say above, "sooner than anyone thinks", reminds me of what Brian Maars from Microsoft said at Carbon Unbound. It took 20 years to get to 1TW of solar power, the next TW took only 3 years. Lets get to 1GT of durable removal, the next 1GT will be quicker! Scale happens. LFG.
This will be a valuable contribution to the field given your birds-eye view, Jason. Looking forward to you insights, and thanks for doing this. wil
